Bunker Holding Promotes Mikkel Kannegaard to Chief Operating Officer

Global marine fuels group Bunker Holding has named Mikkel Kannegaard as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective May 13, according to Ship & Bunker.

Kannegaard joined Bunker Holding in August 2025 as head of the company’s global supply organisation, a role focused on aligning the group’s international expertise with local operational agility. His elevation to COO marks a swift progression within the organisation.

## A Career Rooted in Maritime and Logistics

Kannegaard brings a broad background across the maritime and logistics sectors. Prior to joining Bunker Holding, he served as global head of growth at DHL Global Forwarding. His earlier career includes positions at several prominent names in the industry:

– **Maersk Oil Trading** – Head of the division from 2021 to 2023
– **Monjasa** – From 2017 to 2021
– **Damco** – From 2015 to 2017
– **36-Strategies** – From 2013 to 2015
– **AP Moller-Maersk** – From 2005 to 2013

## Leadership Confidence in the Appointment

Bunker Holding CEO Peder Møller expressed strong confidence in the promotion. “Mikkel has made a strong impression since joining,” Møller said in an emailed statement cited by Ship & Bunker. “He has brought operational strength and a clear sense of direction to an important area of our business. His promotion to COO reflects both his contribution so far and the confidence we have in him going forward.”

Kannegaard himself acknowledged the transition positively. “Since joining, I have been met with a strong culture and a clear ambition to move the business forward together,” he said, according to the same statement. He added that the progress achieved so far had been made possible by the dedication and collaboration of teams across the Group.

According to Ship & Bunker, the strategic work Kannegaard led in his previous role — centred on bridging global capability with local responsiveness — will carry forward into his new responsibilities as COO.
