Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has moved to reassure the market that its Mina Al Fahal crude export terminal is functioning normally, following circulating reports of an explosion and a temporary suspension of loading activity at the facility.
According to Ship & Bunker, PDO confirmed that all port activities remain unaffected and are proceeding in line with standard operational procedures. The clarification was reported by Omani media outlet Times of Oman on Friday.
Reports of Drone Attack Remain Unconfirmed
The PDO statement came in response to media reports, attributed to anonymous sources, which claimed that crude oil loading had been halted between single-buoy mooring berths 1 and 2 following an alleged drone strike on the terminal.
As Ship & Bunker notes, Omani authorities have not confirmed that any attack took place, nor have they identified a potential source for the reported incident. The timing of the alleged event also remains unclear.
A Critical Node in Regional Oil Exports
Mina Al Fahal is Oman’s principal crude oil export terminal. According to Ship & Bunker, the facility handles an estimated 800,000 to 900,000 barrels per day, underscoring its significance within the regional energy supply chain.

Even where official statements point to business as usual, any reported disruption at a terminal of this scale warrants attention across the maritime and energy sectors. Mina Al Fahal’s throughput volume means that loading delays or operational interruptions — confirmed or otherwise — can have downstream effects on vessel scheduling, cargo availability, and regional supply flows.
The unconfirmed nature of the alleged drone attack introduces a layer of uncertainty that those monitoring maritime risk in the broader Gulf region may want to track closely. Until authorities provide further clarity, the situation remains unresolved in terms of what, if anything, occurred.
Ship & Bunker reports that as of the time of publication, no official confirmation of an incident had been issued.
