Salalah Port Hit by Drone Incident as Oman Records Two Separate Aerial Attacks in One Day
Oman’s Salalah Port became the site of a drone incident on Tuesday after three unmanned aerial vehicles were reported in the area. According to Ship & Bunker, citing state-backed Oman News Agency, two of the drones were intercepted mid-air, while a third came down in the vicinity of the port.
No Casualties or Damage Reported
Oman News Agency reported that the incident resulted in no casualties and no material damage to the facility. A local source cited by Ship & Bunker further noted that authorities are currently indicating there has been no operational impact on the port itself as a result of the incident.
Second Drone Attack in Oman the Same Day
The Salalah incident was not an isolated event. Earlier on the same day, Ship & Bunker also reported a separate drone attack at the Port of Duqm, also located in Oman, where a bunker terminal was reportedly targeted in an earlier strike.
Escalating Regional Tensions
Ship & Bunker reports that Iran has intensified strike activity against oil infrastructure and strategic assets in neighbouring Gulf states following recent military operations by the United States and Israel. According to the report, Tehran has launched a series of drone and missile attacks targeting regional countries that host US military bases, significantly raising the level of tension across the Gulf region.
