Wah Kwong’s Venture Energy Secures Green Methanol Supply Deal with Chinese Partner

Venture Energy, the fuel division of shipping firm Wah Kwong, has entered a strategic agreement with a Chinese energy company to secure a supply of green methanol, according to Ship & Bunker.

Strategic Collaboration with Shanghai Shenji

As reported by Ship & Bunker, Venture Energy has signed both a strategic collaboration deal and a green methanol procurement and supply agreement with Shanghai Shenji Energy & Environmental Technology Co. The methanol covered by the agreement will be produced in China.

Under the arrangement, Venture Energy will procure ISCC EU-certified green methanol, with the first shipment scheduled for delivery and loading during the first half of 2026, Ship & Bunker reports.

A Framework Beyond Fuel Supply

The partnership is described as extending well beyond a conventional product supply arrangement. According to a press release cited by Ship & Bunker, the collaboration includes “full-chain collaboration on biogas feedstock and green-fuel ISCC certificates.”

The company stated in the same release that the agreement “establishes a practical, fully traceable framework for the standardised trading of green marine fuels.”
