Asyad Shipping Commits to AuctionConnect Platform in Three-Year Bunker Procurement Deal

Digital bunker procurement platform AuctionConnect has entered into a strategic partnership with Asyad Shipping, with the agreement set to run for three years, according to Ship & Bunker. The deal will see Asyad Shipping rely on the AuctionConnect platform for its bunker purchasing requirements across the duration of the arrangement.

How the Platform Works

AuctionConnect operates by hosting real-time online auctions for bunker deliveries, where fuel suppliers compete against one another by placing live bids. Ship & Bunker reports that this model is designed to replace the conventional, time-consuming negotiation process that has traditionally defined the bunker purchasing experience.

The platform has been active in the digital bunker procurement space since 2000, making it the longest-established operator in that segment, as noted by Ship & Bunker.

Industry Shift Toward Data-Driven Procurement

Commenting on the agreement, Kenneth Juhls, CEO of AuctionConnect, highlighted the broader significance of the deal for the industry. In a statement reported by Ship & Bunker, Juhls said:

“This agreement shows how our platform can support customers in increasingly volatile maritime fuel markets. It also reflects a shift towards more structured and data-driven procurement, where decisions are guided by faster price discovery rather than fragmented negotiation processes.”

The partnership signals growing interest among shipowners and operators in using structured digital tools to manage bunker costs — particularly in a market environment where fuel price fluctuations can have a meaningful impact on operational budgets.
